Takashi Nishikata, Associate Professor (tenure track) of Materials Science and Engineering at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering (engineering), has been selected for support under the “Tenure Track Expansion and Entrenchment Program (Selection of Individuals)” of the FY 2013 Program for Developing Human Resources in Science and Technology, and the news was published on the home page of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on November 7, 2013. In the Selection of Individuals, particularly able young researchers are selected from among tenure track staff recommended by the heads of organizations which had been selected in a “Selection of Organizations.” Additional research funding etc. is provided to the selected researchers, for the purpose of promoting the development of future research leaders who will produce further outstanding research achievements. In this year’s selection, 106 researchers from 42 universities nationwide were recommended, and 30 researchers from 21 universities were selected.
At Yamaguchi University, Shin Kamijo, Associate Professor (tenure track) of Natural Science at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering (science), had already been selected in the Selection of Individuals of the previous fiscal year, making this selection the second in two years in a row. The two researchers both study in the field of synthetic organic chemistry, demonstrating how rich synthetic organic chemistry research is at Yamaguchi University.
